Performance evaluation report for national secondary public hospitals shows that over 40% of hospitals are still operating at a loss

Recently, the National Health Commission released a report on the national monitoring and analysis of the performance evaluation of secondary public hospitals in 2021. A total of 5456 secondary public hospitals across the country participated in this performance evaluation, covering almost all secondary public hospitals in the country.

According to national monitoring and analysis, the clinical service and diagnosis and treatment support capabilities of secondary public hospitals continue to improve; The satisfaction rate of the masses is 85.44 points, an increase of 0.21 compared to 2020; The satisfaction score of medical staff is 75.86 points, which is basically the same as in 2020 (76.13). In terms of operational management, despite the overall stable operation of secondary public hospitals, 43.87% of hospitals still experienced losses. (Source: National Health Commission)

Eli Lilly's Phase III Alzheimer's Disease Drug Reaches Primary Endpoint, Delaying Cognitive Impairment

On May 4th, Eli Lilly announced that its antibody therapy for Alzheimer's disease, donanmab, has achieved the primary endpoint and all secondary endpoints assessed for cognitive and functional decline in phase III clinical trials.

Targeting amyloid proteins is one of the important directions for the development of new drugs for Alzheimer's disease. Donanemab specifically binds to a subtype of amyloid protein called N3pG, and by targeting this subtype, it specifically binds to amyloid plaques in the brain, thereby promoting their clearance.

Announcement on the official website of Eli Lilly

52% of participants completed the treatment course within 1 year due to meeting the requirements for clearing amyloid plaques, and 72% completed the course within 18 months. Compared with placebo, the primary endpoint measure showed that donemab delayed cognitive decline in patients by 35% (p<0.0001). At the same time, the rate of decline in daily self-care ability of patients slowed down by 40%, and 47% of patients did not experience clinical progression of the disease within one year after receiving donemab treatment (defined as no decrease in clinical dementia score, i.e. CDR-SB score).

The researchers stated that the key data from this study provide convincing evidence to support the association between removing amyloid plaques and clinical benefits for patients. Based on these results, Lilly will initiate global submission work as soon as possible and is expected to submit a marketing application to the FDA within this quarter. (Source: Lilly)

The new method of Chinese Academy of Sciences can diagnose early breast cancer with an accuracy rate of 91%

On April 21, the research team of the Chinese Academy of Sciences published an article on Science Advances entitled Cascaded microfluidic circuits for purple filtration of extractive vegetables from whole blood for early cancer diagnosis.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are nanoscale phospholipid vesicles actively secreted by tumor cells into the peripheral blood and other bodily fluid environments. A simple, efficient, and standardized EV separation and analysis method has become a key technical issue in the field of tumor liquid biopsy. Researchers said that by using sensors to detect EV protein markers separated from patients' blood, the accuracy rate of early diagnosis of breast cancer is 91%, and it has broad application prospects in the field of EVs research. CDC: Currently, no evidence has been found that XBB. 1.1.6 increases the risk of severe illness and death

On April 26th, at the press conference of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council, Chen Cao, a researcher at the Institute of Virology of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, introduced that as of April 22nd, China has detected 57 cases of XBB. 1.1.6 and its sub branch cases among local cases.

The World Health Organization believes that current evidence shows that the global risk of XBB. 1.1.6 is lower than XBB. 1.1.5. At the same time, in the countries and populations where XBB.1.1.6 is mainly prevalent, the World Health Organization has found that XBB.1.1.6 has a certain transmission advantage, and has also observed that XBB.1.1.6 has comparable immune escape ability to XBB.1.1.5. However, there have been no reports of increased hospitalization and death due to infection with XBB.1.1.6. Chen Cao stated that China CDC will closely monitor and analyze the future trends of XBB. 1.1.6. (Source: CCTV Network)

In addition, fetal bovine serum is an important biomaterial for cell culture. It is extracted from bovine fetal blood and processed through special procedures. Fetal bovine serum is rich in various nutrients and growth factors, and is an essential supplement for cell growth and proliferation. It is widely used in biomedical research, drug development, vaccine production and other fields. Fetal bovine serum has natural antibodies and antimicrobial activity, which can protect cultured cells from infection by external pathogenic microorganisms. In addition, it can provide the necessary nutrients and growth factors for cells, promoting cell proliferation and growth.

The preparation process of fetal bovine serum requires strict biosafety measures. Firstly, collect fetal blood from healthy cows and place it under sterile conditions. Then, blood cells and microorganisms are removed through steps such as centrifugation and filtration. Next, after low-temperature and heating treatment, potential pathogenic microorganisms and viruses will be killed. Finally, fetal bovine serum is processed into powder or liquid form through methods such as freeze-drying or alcohol precipitation for convenient storage and use.
